What is a Shower Diverter?
Your faucet handle can change the flow of water from your combo bathtub to shower. This handle activates the shower diverter. It is the valve that directs water from the wall.
There are three types of shower diverters.
Three-valve diverter: These are typically found in situations where there are separate knobs to heat and cool water. Once you have found the right mixture of hot and cold water you can turn the third handle clockwise so that the water goes to the showerhead. To redirect the water to your tub, turn the handle counterclockwise after you have finished showering.
Two-valve diverter—This type is often found in combination with a single-handle tap. The temperature control will be controlled by the larger handle, while the water direction will be controlled by the smaller handle.
The most popular type of diverter is single-valve or T- A T-diverter is a handle that pulls up straight from the tub faucet. Pushing the handle down will open the tub spout’s water supply.
